Currently less than one percent of philanthropy in Canada goes toward efforts that combat climate change. Yet evidence shows that philanthropy can be a powerful catalyst for game-changing climate solutions and for supporting giant leaps toward a prosperous, net-zero emissions future.
The Clean Economy Fund exists to support this kind of philanthropy.
We are a charitable public foundation with the mandate to rally more philanthropy for high-impact climate solutions in Canada.
Our goal is simple: to triple the amount of climate philanthropy in Canada, from $100 million to more than $300 million annually, by 2030 – and to help that philanthropy achieve maximum impact. We believe in the power of philanthropy for solving climate change, and we offer the tools and the community of practice to make it happen.

Clean Economy Fund provides philanthropically-minded families and organizations with timely research studies, landscape analyses and insider updates to help funders identify high-impact opportunities to support climate solutions. We also share our evidence-based Priorities framework, project lists, and access to expert advisors, so that your climate philanthropy can be strategic, intentional, and well-targeted for maximum impact.
Collaboration & Convening
A community of like-minded funders to strengthen your climate philanthropy
Clean Economy Fund offers a variety of convening opportunities to help build purpose-driven connections and relationships within the philanthropic community. These include an annual retreat, regular webinar discussions, affinity groups, and direct introductions. We also facilitate collaborative funding initiatives so that philanthropic contributions can be multiplied to support more ambitious projects.
Funds
Diverse funding vehicles to deploy your climate philanthropy
As a registered charity and public foundation, the Clean Economy Fund provides a variety of tax-receiptable funding vehicles to help climate philanthropy reach its target. These include collaborative pooled funds as well as individual donor-advised accounts. Our full-service offering, which can include everything from financial management to grant administration to final impact reporting, ensures climate philanthropy delivers maximum impact while not getting bogged down by the mechanics of it all.
The Clean Economy Fund is a charitable, non-membership based organization. Our tools and services are available to all philanthropically-minded families and organizations interested in supporting climate solutions.
